Our take

Worth it if a full afternoon in a real Bavarian kitchen, not a city storefront, is the point: this is a hands-on class in a 150-year-old farmhouse near Oberaudorf, where you make pretzels with Obazda, a veal schnitzel with the classic sides, and Kaiserschmarrn, with Bavarian beer and schnapps along the way1. It runs four hours, starts at 10:00 am, and every one of its 24 shown reviews is 5 stars1. It is priced from $243.70 a person as of September 28, 2026, and the price does not come back: the page states plainly that the experience "is non-refundable and cannot be changed for any reason"1. The one honest limit is that commitment, so book it only once the date is fixed.

Who it suits

  • Anyone who wants a full farmhouse afternoon, not a city-center hour: the class covers a starter, a main and a dessert, with beer and schnapps along the way1.
  • Travelers without a car: the operator offers pickup at Bahnhof Oberaudorf train station1.
  • Small groups: the class caps at 10 travelers, and infant seats are available1.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone whose date might move: the page says the experience "is non-refundable and cannot be changed for any reason"1.
  • Wheelchair users: the operator lists it as not wheelchair accessible1.

What it adds to doing it yourself

At home, Wiener Schnitzel and Jägerschnitzel walks through breading and frying the cutlet yourself. This class adds the rest of the afternoon: a hands-on session in the farmhouse, a pretzel-and-Obazda starter, a veal schnitzel with the classic sides, and Kaiserschmarrn, with Bavarian beer and schnapps served as you cook1. Its own list names a cooking course, the Obazda spread and a pretzel, with five more items unspecified; check the full inclusions on Viator before you book.

What the operator says

Join us in Oberaudorf to experience life in the beautiful Bavarian alps and learn how to make some staple dishes of the region. This is a cultural cooking class, so as we cook together, expect to hear some stories, cultural insights, and traditions of Bavaria. Enjoy some of our favorite Bavarian beers and soft drinks during the cooking course as we prepare proper schnitzel, Bavarian style potato salad, and a typical radish salad together. Be prepared to get involved as we will put the schnitzel hammer right into your hands! For dessert, we will make kaiserschmarrn- a fluffy, torn alpine style pancake- and enjoy a schnapps to digest it all. After cooking and enjoying our meal together, we say Servus and get you back to the station in time for your train. Before you go, you will get your own Adventure Bavaria recipe book to take back with you so you can recreate the magic of the Bavarian kitchen at home for family and friends.
