Every tour in this section is sold and run through Viator, and the booking buttons are affiliate links: a booking may earn this site a commission at no cost to you. That is how the site pays for its hosting and its mustard. It does not decide what gets recommended, and it never will.

I am a train person. Most of Bavaria’s famous sights sit at the end of a regional line, and my guides will tell you when the Bayern-Ticket and a pair of sensible shoes are all you need. A tour earns its price when it adds something the ticket does not: a guide who knows what you are looking at, a coach to a place the train does not reach, an entry time you could not get on your own, or a day where somebody else does the planning while you look out of the window. Where that is true, I say so, and where it is not, I say that too.
